About Me
I am a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Association for Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist in 1992, after completing a Linguistics degree at the University of Edinburgh followed by a postgraduate diploma at City University, London.
Since qualifying, I have worked within a number of different NHS and local government departments and have developed a specialism in the field of autism and social communication disorders. This led me to undertake a further degree at the University of Reading in 1999 to research communication difficulties in autism.
I have specialist knowledge and experience of assessing and working with children who have autistic spectrum disorders (and associated conditions). I have been trained in the use of PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) and other evidence-based approaches (such as SCERTS and TEACCH).
I am also experienced in working with children in mainstream schools and nurseries who have various forms of language delay and/or disorder. I have been trained in Makaton, Signalong and am a Hanen trained therapist.
As every child is unique, I prefer to draw up a personalised programme, tailor-made to your child's needs rather than adopting one particular therapy technique.

I am always keen to work alongside other NHS or local authority services and I will liaise closely with parents and other professionals to best meet the needs of the child.
